A year of radio silence followed by some back-to-back updates? Must be a magical time of year!
Which isn't to say that I haven't been working on stuff, as I absolutely have. My personal blog just happens to have been out of sight, out of mind, unfortunately, so I haven't been updating much.
But what have I been up to? Well, I finished writing a manuscript that I've sent off to a few agents to see if I couldn't get representation to get published. Unfortunately, the answer to that is no. I think the most enthusiastic response I got said their 2024 slate was full, but even with that in mind I feel like I would prefer to do another draft of it before I try to ship it off again. There were some aspects about it that I wasn't super happy with even without whatever editorial suggestions I could get from a publisher, but in the meantime I put it on the backburner while I've been working on a lower pressure project, which brings us to...
In light of the passing of Akira Toriyama, the creater of Dragon Ball, I felt a desire to do a martial arts fantasy story set in a world inspired by Asian mythology and history with a focus on characters learning about themselves, training and getting stronger to handle challenges of increasing magnitude, also sometimes referred to as progression fantasy or cultivation fantasy.
When their shrine is burned down, alcolytes Jin Tosa and Sho find themselves on the run. Now thrust out into a wild and dangerous world, the two of them must face down demons, inner and external, in order to stop the enigmatic Grandmaster and his cult of sorcerers, the Ring of Omta from gathering the amulets of the seven elements, Earth, Fire, Water, Wind, Life, Death, and Light, before all is brought to ruin.
The story can be found on several serial fiction platforms including Royal Road, Webnovel, Wattpad, Inkitt, and right here.
